The visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball dropped an 83-66 decision to Panküp Kayseri Şekerspor in Week 12 game of the Turkish Basketball League.

Both teams got off to a rusty start with early turnovers and tons of missed shots. As the game moved on, Kayseri Şekerspor picked up the pace with a couple of layups by Smith and Pringle, only to see Branzova and Sales knock down back-to-back jumpers to keep the visitors within striking distance. Yet, the green and white team enjoyed an 8-6 lead at the halfway point. While Pringle continued to pour it in for Kayseri, the Lady Eagles rode the shooting of Sales to stay close. Nevertheless, the home team managed to outrebound Beşiktaş Cola Turka in the closing stages and carried a 21-16 advantage into the second frame.

The sure-handed Sales teamed up with Mandir in the early going of the second and began chipping away at the deficit with consecutive buckets from the painted area. Unfortunately, the rest of the team did not follow their lead and committed too many unforced turnovers, giving the hosts enough chances to reestablish their superiority. Then Jonson sparked an 8-0 Kayseri spurt that saw Tuğçe nail a pair of 3-point shots from downtown and extend the margin to 13 points, 42-29, with less two minutes remaining on the clock. Despite a late Beşiktaş charge, Panküp Kayseri received some clutch baskets from Bridge and Pringle in the dying seconds to close out the first half leading 49-37.

After a brief scoring drought, the home team regrouped quickly and controlled the third stanza with a torrid shooting performance from Pringle. The Black and White tried to narrow the gap behind a strong late flurry by Sales but couldn’t fetch sufficient number of rebounds at either end of the floor to get back into the game. Kayseri Şekerspor was up, 71-50, after three.

Sitting on a 21-point cushion, the ladies in green and white played with more confidence in the fourth and used the scoring of Hülya and Johnson to boost the lead to 79-58 midway through quarter. The home side barely slowed down during the remainder of the game as it rolled to a 79-58 upset of Beşiktaş Cola Turka.
